Update 9/5/2024

Our Mission

Being Sent Via Email, Posted on NextDoor, and www.RiversideLakeland.Com

Dear Riverside Lakeland Property Owners,

We are providing a quick update on the progress of the bridge and road repairs. FEMA has begun depositing two standardized amounts for our community:

  • $2,274.45      for Road Repairs (labeled as "Home Repairs" by FEMA)
  • $11,676.42      for Bridge Repairs (also labeled as "Home Repairs")

Please note that Riverside Bank has advised us that they cannot accept endorsed checks. If you received a check from FEMA, you will need to deposit it into your personal account and then write a check to the POA for the same amount. You can send this to the PO Box or provide it directly to a POA Board Member.

It is critical to understand that you are legally required to forward these funds to the Riverside Lakeland POA. These funds were allocated specifically for bridge and road repairs and must be contributed toward the community’s shared project. Failure to do so could result in legal consequences, and all funds received by the RLPOA will be reported back to FEMA and other appropriate authorities.

We are working on obtaining additional information from FEMA, which may lead to a second round of checks. If you received the road claim amount, we may ask you to contact FEMA and request that the bridge claim be added to your application. Similarly, those who received bridge claim funds would request the road claim be added but we are still looking into this.

We are tackling the bridge and road repairs from three angles: FEMA, the Special Assessment, and the SBA Loan.

The sooner we can raise $188,000, the quicker we can award the contract and get on the schedule for the new bridge.

If you have any questions, please contact Fraser at 713-385-6907.

Sincerely,
Fraser Stanley-Jones
